CLEAR: Lenticule Extraction
Uncover a whole new world of vision correction with CLEAR, an advanced Ziemer procedure which is minimally intrusive, dependable, and delivers superb visual results. At Angel Eyes, we are pleased to offer CLEAR using the Ziemer FEMTO Z8 NEO.

What is CLEAR?
CLEAR (Cornea Lenticule Extraction for Advanced Refractive-Correction) is an innovative Ziemer procedure which redefines laser vision correction for myopia and astigmatism. CLEAR is the more refined version of the technology called SMILE.
The procedure is performed using a singular laser (Ziemer Z8 NEO Femtosecond laser) which creates a disk-like shape of corneal tissue called the lenticule. The lenticule is removed from the cornea through a microincision, which alters the corneal curvature and corrects your vision.
CLEAR is changing lives every day, allowing people to go about their everyday life without the need for eyeglasses or contact lenses.

How does CLEAR work?
1 – A laser is used to prepare a disc-shaped tissue (lenticule) within the cornea.
2 – The surgeon then removes the prepared lenticule through a micro incision in the surface of the cornea.
3 – The removal of the lenticule causes the shape of the eye to change, which corrects your vision.
Key Benefits of CLEAR
- Minimally intrusive: A gentle procedure that uses low energy laser which affords a high degree of patient comfort.
- Flapless and bladeless: No creation of a corneal flap is required which can lessen the risk of complications and help to decrease recovery time post-surgery.
- Singular Laser: Offering a quicker bladeless surgery which does not require stitches.
Why should I choose CLEAR over other laser procedures?
- CLEAR is a flapless procedure that does not disrupt the top layer of the cornea.
- Quick visual recovery.
- CLEAR only uses one laser throughout the procedure, making it a single-step surgery.
- Less risk of post-operative dry eye.
- Maintains a high degree of corneal stability.

What are the advantages of the Ziemer Femto Z8 system?
Enhanced centration: The Z8 NEO makes centration of the eye easier and more precise. This offers a customised procedure for each patient which optimizes visual outcomes.
Faster visual recovery: Low energy pulses in the nanojoules (nJ) results in less stress to the surrounding tissue, and the use of a propriety lenticule scan pattern contributes to faster visual recovery.
Guided extraction: The use of dual guiding tunnels offers the benefit of easier lenticule extraction; not available with other lenticule extraction technologies.
Reduced treatment time: Around 15 minutes total.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does a CLEAR procedure consultation involve?
During your consultation you will be asked why you want CLEAR surgery in order to determine the best suitable vision correction procedure for your needs. You will undergo vision tests and scans to properly determine your suitability for this procedure. If you are considered unsuitable for CLEAR, for example due to too high of a level of myopia, or astigmatism, we will be able to offer you alternative procedure options.
Is CLEAR painful?
No. Prior to and during your procedure, anaesthetic (numbing) drops are used to help prevent pain.
How long does the procedure take?
The Ziemer FEMTO Z8 NEO Femtosecond Laser itself typically takes only 35-40 seconds, with the full treatment of both eyes taking around 15 minutes.
Is it a safe procedure?
CLEAR is one of the safest procedures for refractive vision correction with very low associated risks due to minimal intrusion and use of gentle low energy laser pulses.
